Background

A Program Manager with Information Technology (IT) background to include technical expertise and managerial skills necessary to host/attend meetings and provide customers with subject matter expertise to conduct IT business development, refine requirements, scope and plan proposed build, design, engineer, and test cycles.

Responsible for working cooperatively with customers in order to streamline process into the simplest automation steps.  Ultimate goal of this effort is to achieve a balance between complete automation, and a process which stops for human interaction at designated checkpoints in order to achieve success.

Job Duties

Duties will include:

  • Chair and attend IT meetings
  • Develop Meeting Agendas & Meeting Minutes
  • Using Microsoft Project and PMBOK Best Practices develop and manage Project Plans
    • Track and manage milestones
    • Conduct Gate Reviews
    • Manage resources, deliverable dates and cost estimates
  • Develop and present comprehensive concept briefings detailing the methods by which the IT solutions or concepts will be engineered, delivered or service rendered
  • Critical Skills and Knowledge:
    • Firsthand experience using MS Project and SELC in order to plan and execute complex IT projects using PMP best practices
    • Act as a team lead on a cross-functional IT project team, exercising project management skills to plan, develop, implement, coordinate, and lead project activities (e.g., develop feasible milestones, coordinate and plan)
    • Excellent communications skills to provide project status to peers and superiors; to interface with clients/customers for project-related communication; to communicate with colleagues in other functional areas
    • Expert level experience using MS Project in order to plan and execute complex IT projects
    • Experience with Cloud Services, Amazon Web Services and Azure desired
    • Strong interpersonal skills, excellent listening skills and the ability to translate sometimes “notional” requirements into a demonstrable “release 1” deliverable
    • Ability to translate “reporting and tracking requirements” into a CIO vehicle for displaying basic project data that can be understood by senior leadership (e.g., milestones, resource utilization, percent-completion
    • Excellent communication skills to provide project status to peers and superiors; to interface with clients/customers for project-related communication; to communicate with colleagues in other functional areas (Engineering, Ops, PMO, IT Security) in order to accomplish project talks

Minimum Position Requirements

  • MA/MS Degree
  • 10 years’ experience
  • Typically works on high-visibility or mission critical aspects of a given program and performs all functional duties independently. A Senior Labor category may oversee the efforts of less senior staff and/or be responsible for the efforts of all staff assigned to a specific job.
  • PMP Desired
  • Able to frame discussions with clients/customers in “business needs” terminology vs. IT terminology
  • Able to perform as a trusted colleague to other contractors in order to capture inputs for project reporting; proactively identify project problems; seamlessly interface with clients/customers; ensure actions reflect “one team”
  • Able to refrain from “on-the-spot problem solving.” Demonstrate ability to spend time digesting and clarifying the client’s/customer’s communication and then discuss potential approaches for a solution
  • Able to speak comfortable and succinctly in front of clients/customers at formal meetings(e.g., testing training sessions, presentations, demo’s, etc.) and to prepare artifacts for use at such meetings
